It’s a consent-based way to confirm someone’s identity by sending a one-time password to the mobile number (and/or email) they’ve registered with their Aadhaar. The user enters the OTP to prove the number belongs to them. Because it needs no fingerprint or iris hardware, it works entirely online — perfect for remote onboarding.
Yes, always. Every check is explicit and consent-based, as required under the Aadhaar Act, 2016. The person is shown what’s being verified and must approve before any OTP is sent or data is returned.
Requests are encrypted end to end and every call is logged for audit. Offline eKYC returns a UIDAI-signed document keyed to only the last four digits of the Aadhaar, so you can confirm authenticity while keeping the data you hold to a minimum.
